Ideal for current Resolve Colorists and assistant operators, looking to learn advanced techniques using the DaVinci Resolve control surface, as well as those who have completed ICA Resolve 101 or ICA Resolve 101 plus
Duration: 2 days
Cost: £800, US$ 995, Euros 800, Singapore AUD $995,
Agenda:
- DAY ONE
- An introduction to the latest version of Resolve software.
- A complete demo of the system, looking at every area of the software including the new features and how they work with the Resolve control surface.
- Resolve workflows including
Film, Red, Canon and other digital files.
- Resolve works with lots of formats, how do we load and work with all the different flavors of material our clients may bring us? Importing and conforming both film and digital material.
- Creating your own timeline
- You have the files but no EDL. How to make a small timeline of important shots that will enable you to showcase some “looks” to the director, at the start of your session.
- The complete guide to Nodes?
- The node is the key to successful grading using Resolve. We will look at all 4 nodes, work on the differences, their strengths and where and when to use each one.
- Who is a Colorist?
- You are a working Colorist, but how do you take yourself to the next level?
- The Resolve Trim LUT
- How to make a Trim LUT, and why it is a great resource for both onset Color correction and in the grading room.
- Multiple EDL Conform
- How do we conform multiple EDLs, that share the same corrections. What happens when new VFX shots keep getting added to the timeline, or we have a totally new cut and a new EDL is supplied.
- An introduction to the latest version of Resolve software.
- DAY TWO
- Parallel, Layer and Key mixer nodes
-
These nodes offer lots of flexibility. See how to combine them with the other Resolve nodes to aid and compliment the other nodes in the family. How to mix the corrections from one node to another. What are the differences?
-
- Advanced Secondary Keying
- Keying is a very important part of what we do as Colorists. Learn the tricks on how to key in Resolve using either the HSL RGB or Lumance keyers.
- Power Windows
- The Polygon and Power Curve windows explained. Don’t pass shots off to VFX, use the PCW to make pack shots really stand out.
- Versions
- Sometimes we need to store alternate versions of a grade, even rendering them to their own labeled folder.
- Key-Framing in the timeline
- Using the timeline to keyframe and manipulated the image over a period of time. How to change just the node you are working on.
- Looks and Styles with Resolve
- How to create looks and styles within Resolve that will help give you an edge over your competition.
- Importing and Exporting
- The grade is finished but how do you render a small section so you can e-mail it to the director? Importing the DPs “temp look” j-pegs or exporting a number of stills for your clients to view.
- Parallel, Layer and Key mixer nodes
