Color Grading & Science Classes

We train and support working colorists, editors, cinematographers, directors, DITs, VFX artists, restoration artists, audio engineers and DPs with staff positions at major facilities or busy freelancers working on a wide variety of television, commercial and feature film content.

Our instructors are active professionals who work around the world. Together they have accumulated more than 200 years of experience that they are happy to share with their students. We’ve taught classes in 46 cities across 5 continents, but now also offer online and remote learning – in a variety of time zones and languages.

We teach classes at beginner, advanced, and masterclass levels on color science, HDR, daVinci Resolve, monitor calibration, colorist strategies, digital makeup, looks, and specific classes for focused on grading for commercials, TV series, feature films, music videos, and more.

RG101: Learning to grade with Resolve

This class is an excellent introduction to coloring with DaVinci Resolve. It is ideal for first time users and you do not need any experience to attend. It is important when learning any software to learn the correct way, that will then form a great foundation going forward. Class size is normally capped at ten students. Each student gets to work at their own workstation. This class may also be offered as a BYO laptop option. Learn more.

RG201: Advanced Resolve Techniques

Ideal for current Resolve colorists with at least one year of experience or students who have taken a previous iColorist class or an online course like Warren’s FXPHD offerings. We cover advanced techniques using the latest Resolve software. This course is aimed at colorists grading feature films, commercials, reality TV, documentaries, and TV drama. Learn more.


RG301: Looks and Matching Masterclass

In this class, you will learn how to create the traditional “looks” from movies, commercials, and music videos. We will then focus on matching those looks from shot to shot, and on how to apply a look across the whole scene. We will work with different sequences and learn specialized techniques to get the best from each timeline. Learn more.

RE301: daVinci Resolve for Professional Editors

This class is designed for professional editors looking to transition into daVinci Resolve as their primary editing tool. Over two or three days, you’ll explore the powerful editing features within daVinci Resolve. While the course centers on editing, you’ll also gain practical insights into color correction, audio post, and media management—giving you a solid foundation in the complete postproduction workflow. CT202: Color Therapy

Working with clients successfully is something you have to work at. It doesn’t come naturally for most, but confidence in the software will mean increased confidence in yourself. In turn that will reflect in front of your clients. More and more colorists are working alone and the days of bouncing ideas from a fellow colorist down the hall, or sitting in on sessions with a senior colorist, unusual today. Learn more.


DT101: DIT – Introductory Course

This class is a beginner-friendly introduction to the technical workflows behind modern digital filmmaking. It’s designed for anyone who wants to understand how camera footage is handled safely on set and how material moves from production into post. Over three days (or five online sessions), participants learn the essential responsibilities of a Data Wrangler / Junior DIT: safely offloading camera media with checksum verification, organizing and validating metadata, creating viewing files and editorial proxies, and communicating clearly with the camera department and post-production. CT112: Video Calibration Essential Core Training, PVA Certified

This is part of a professional program designed to take those working with video to the next level. Comprised of workbook focused exercises on the first day, followed by two full days of supervised, hands-on practice, this workshop provides you with the necessary tools to start offering calibration services immediately. 4 total days of hands on training. CT123: The Look In Production

This is a series of six (6) three-hour live online classes with opportunities for Q&A. This is the first in a series of three. This series is ideal for directors, cinematographers, DITs, post supervisors, editors, VFX artists, conform artists, assistant colorists, colorists, and anyone interested in knowing more about the collaborative process between the cinematographer on-set and the colorist in the finishing suite. CT223: Color Management and Color Grading

This series is ideal for directors, cinematographers, DITs, post supervisors, editors, VFX artists, conform artists, colorists, assistant colorists, and anyone else interested in knowing more about the collaborative process between the cinematographer on-set and the colorist in the finishing suite. It takes a very practical approach and begins with setting up color grading projects ready for finishing. We use daVinci Resolve, which is freely available, the example color correction system throughout the series, but the principles you will learn apply equally to any other grading software. We follow the interaction between editing, VFX, and final color, and dig deeper into the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), other color management solutions, and the fundamentals of color grading. This series is ideal for directors, cinematographers, DITs, post supervisors, editors, VFX artists, conform artists, colorists, assistant colorists, and anyone else interested in knowing more about color grading and daVinci Resolve. This series builds on the color knowledge of our CT123 course and the fundamentals of our CT223 course to unleash the final color skills needed to elevate the visual impact of the footage.
